  • Foreign Employees

    Production companies who want to conduct filming work using foreign employees or freelancers will be supported in questions of temporary residence and work permit by the Ausländerbehörde (agency for foreigners) in collaboration with the Bundesagentur für Arbeit (public employment agency). A list of all countries whose residents need a visa in order to enter Germany is available on the website of the Federal Foreign Office.


    COVID-19 INFORMATION (as of 13.04.2023)
    The national Ordinance on Coronavirus Entry Regulations (CoronaEinreiseV) expired on 07.04.2023, therefore entry into Germany is possible again without coronavirus-related entry restrictions while observing the general entry requirements under the law of residence and relating to the border police.

  • General Filming Permit

    In Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, it is not necessary to apply for a general filming permit.


    COVID-19 INFORMATION (as of 13.04.2023)
    The national Infection Protection Act (IfSG; in German only) is effective.

    The Robert Koch Institute (RKI), as the Federal Ministry of Health’s central scientific institution, offers information on the current state of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany, e.g. via the COVID-19 radar.

    The German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Energy, Textile, Electrical and Media Products Sectors (BG ETEM) has developped SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Standard Recommendations for film productions, version #22 of 14.03.2023 (in German only). After the federal SARS-CoV-2 Occupational Health and Safety Ordinance expired on 02.02.2023, previously mandatory protection measures turned into recommendations for which the BG ETEM publication still gives valuable guidance.
